The cha-cha (or cha-cha-cha) began in Cuba in 1953, originally performed to the music of the same name by composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin. The dance can be performed to any sort of music with a 4/4 beat, typically Cuban music or most Latin pop and rock music. The entire routine is based on a different cadence of steps to the beat of the music than one would find elsewhere, meaning that those learning the routines have to be willing to toss aside any experience they might have with other styles.

With the style being so focused on proper timing of the moves to beats, those taking cha-cha-cha lessons will need a good ear and the ability to anticipate a beat dropping. This goes along with the usual need for a decent level of fitness for a person to excel at any sort of dance. As with most other Latin dance styles, there is a certain need for emotion and a movement style that can almost be ferocious at times. So someone able to exude a physical confidence in movement is going to do much better when learning and performing the cha-cha.

Cha-cha lessons offered through cha-cha instructors on ClassClassifieds are typically private cha-cha lessons, group cha-cha lessons (perhaps at a cha-cha dance school), or online cha-cha lessons. There are cha-cha courses available for all ages: both cha-cha classes for children and cha-cha classes for adults. What are you waiting for? Learn how to dance the cha-cha today!
