Squash is a racket sport played on a court, similar to racketball but using a smaller ball that doesn't bounce quite as high or far. Players alternate hitting said ball against the court walls until someone is unable to return a volley. The history of squash starts at Garrow School in 1830. Similar stringed rackets to tennis were used, and a natural rubber ball.
As time passed, the construction of game materials improved, with lighter graphite rackets becoming popular in the 1980's. Synthetic strings replaced the 'gut' strings as well, giving a more responsive racket head. Squash has continued to grow in popularity as a sport, beginning with the Metropolitan Racquets Association on New York in 1924.
Squash requires good physical fitness, fast reaction times, good reflexes and explosive power in the legs in order to reach shots. Hand-eye co-ordination and deft hand and arm motion will help a player to fire more accurate, harder to return shots. Overall fitness will definitely improve as players continue to enjoy the game, and squash coaching and squash lessons are available to most locations offering racket sports.
All types of squash lessons are offered through ClassClassifieds, including children’s squash lessons, women’s squash lessons, and men’s squash lessons.
